There was a run of heavier cattle on offer at the Mount Pleasant market on Thursday last week.
There were 123 cattle and 1052 sheep and lambs yarded, made up of heavier cattle, store cattle and bobby calves, as well as trade lambs, hoggets and older sheep.
Nutrien Fawcett Mount Pleasant's Ashley Fawcett said there was good competition on the heavier cattle, resulting in a lift in pricing.
"There were also some good butcher cattle and a few stores," he said.
"The better types had a bit of a lift but anything lacking in condition or quality was probably firm on where they had been."
In the sheep run, the bulk of the yarding was trade lambs.
"Fresh lambs saw a higher return, selling well to smaller butchers and processors," Mr Fawcett said.
He said store lambs also had good demand, while hoggets also sold well to processors.
"The mutton job had a slight increase, which reflects the price on hook," he said.
