The rebate, up to 50 per cent off to 95 cents, was initially available for white and black tags, corresponding to year-of-birth colours for 2024 and 2025.
The rebate will include all eight colours available in the National Livestock Identification System year-of-birth colour scheme, for any tags bought between 2023 and 2025.
The rebate, which opened July 1, 2024, is available for tags bought between January 1, 2023 and June 30, 2025.
But it does exclude pink post-breeder tags, non-NLIS accredited devices and colours outside of the year-of-birth colour system, such as brown and grey.
PIRSA major programs and regions executive director Peter Appleford said it was pleasing to extend the rebate to assist all South Australian producers.
"Improved traceability is crucial to ensuring we have the best possible system in place to protect our $2.39 billion livestock industry if a disease such as foot and mouth occurs in Australia and that's exactly what the eID system for sheep and farmed goats will deliver," he said.
Black and white eID tags, aligned to the 2024 and 2025 year of birth respectively, can be bought at South Australian rural retailers with the discount already applied.
To access the extended rebate, applications can be made online.

The expanded eID device rebate will close June 30, 2025.
